Morgan Monroe Acoustic Instruments offers moderately priced vintage-style acoustic guitars manufactured in Korea, though the company is based in Indiana. The MMV-5 is part of Morgan Monroe's Creekside Collection, a series of guitars aimed at bluegrass and folk players. It is a mini-jumbo guitar with a 22 1/2 inch scale length, hand-rubbed tobacco finish and a body shape based on the Martin "00" series of acoustic guitars. - Made of classic tone-woods, the MMV-5 comes with an x-braced solid sitka spruce top and laminated mahogany neck, back and sides. Both the bridge and fingerboard are made of East Indian rosewood. The binding and dot inlay are maple.
- The nut and saddle are made of bone. String spacing is 1/4 inch at the nut and 3/8 inch at the saddle. The nut width is 1 11/16 inches, making it a bit narrow for fingerstyle playing.
- The MMV-5 has 19 stainless steel frets. Stainless steel frets do not wear down as fast as nickel frets, but some guitar makers think they sound too bright. A dovetail joint attaches the neck to the body at the 14th fret.
- The MMV-5 features Grover Sta-Tite locking tuners. Grover tuners are known for their stability and are rarely found on guitars in the Creekside MMV-5's under-$500 price range. The Sta-Tite tuner is a vintage style tuner with an open back, visible threading and an 18-to-one gear ratio.
- The MMV-5 comes standard with D'Addario steel strings.
- The MMV-5 comes with a nylon gig bag or soft case.
- The Creekside MMV-5 comes with a lifetime warranty.
