  Putting together the perfect birthday party invitation is one of the most important parts of planning a party. While it is perfectly acceptable to use packaged invitations for a party, it is more interesting to put something together yourself. One way to make your invitations stand out is to include a clever rhyming verse. A properly executed rhyme can be just as entertaining to write as it is to read.
  
  

First Birthdays

  First birthdays are especially appropriate for rhyming invitations. You want your baby's first birthday party to be a lighthearted, festive affair, and a little iambic pentameter is the perfect way to convey just that tone. Some sample verses are:
