How to Convert a Weed Eater to a Brush Cutter
- 1). Remove the grass deflector. Undo the screw or bolt at the point the wide plastic shield---the grass deflector---meets the shaft.
- 2). Place a holding pin through the slot in the grass cover, the upper flange washer and the gear head.
- 3). Remove the string head by turning it clockwise. Keep these bits safe. You'll need them again to convert the device back into a weed eater.
- 4). Secure the blade guard onto the shaft with a screw .It goes where the grass deflector was.
- 5). Center the blade on the upper flange washer. The blade should be flat. You'll see a shoulder on the upper flange washer which should insert into the center hole of the blade or saw.
- 6). Put the lower flange washer on. Its raised center should be away from the blade.
- 7). Install the nut guard---the cup-like bit---and the blade nut onto the gear head. You should use a holding pin on the upper flange washer and the gear head while you do this. Turn the blade nut counterclockwise.
