Home Based Business Should Be 9-5!
It has many advantages, many of which will be immediately obvious to you.
No commuting, the freedom to choose how you work, the freedom to choose the type of work you want to take on, and the chance to step away from politics in business.
In working for yourself you determine what needs to be done, and what doesn't.
If you are going to live, and survive based solely on your own efforts, it doesn't half sharpen up how you spend time.
There is no longer any point in working hard for the sake of creating the right impression, or to please your boss.
In your own business you are only going to be rewarded for what works, not how hard or 'busy' you seem to be.
Tough - but that's how it is.
In spite of all these freedoms and the opportunity to express yourself by doing a job you choose, you still must have DISCIPLINE.
Even at home, when you're at work, you're at work.
Sure you might want to grab a coffee with your partner mid morning for 10 minutes but this is equivalent to the social interaction at work.
But other than that you're at work! No daytime TV (certainly), no browsing round the shops while nipping into town to see your printer or accountant.
These are things for weekends.
So adopt workmanlike habits and set yourself routines.
If getting up early is your thing, then do it.
Why not start at 7 or 8? Work when best suits you.
Start the same time every day - establish it as a routine.
This also sets the boundaries with other people who live in your house.
Working without distractions and in a disciplined way will simply mean you achieve more, you'll get more done, you'll generate more clients and you'll make more money - sure as eggs is eggs! And that is what you're working for anyway isn't it? Then it is equally important that you break off at appropriate times.
Don't be tempted to work all evening and or all weekend.
This is a very easy bad habit to fall into because it's there - work is just in the next room all the time - "I'll just quickly check my e-mails honey, I'll only be 5 minutes" Break for lunch, clear your head, read the paper, catch up on the lunchtime news, but then at 12:30 or 2 or whenever make sure you're back at your desk and working again - "the shop is now open again" as I refer to it.
Working for yourself, working from home can be absolutely fantastic.
But nevertheless you do need to be business like in the way you go about it, if you want to build business.
Put simply successful people have self-discipline.
Make it work for you.
