How the e-cloth Deep Clean Mop Performed:
Two notable things before I even started cleaning with this mop - the handle is well-made and you can lengthen it to make the task more comfortable.
Second, the microfiber pad is thick - I like that.
At one time I wasn't thrilled with microfiber. I didn't like the feel of the dusting cloths on my hands and it took a while to cozy up to the floor pads too, but I now rely on them and for certain cleaning jobs, microfiber can't be beat. The bottom line - it's better at picking up and holding the dirt, compared to some other materials. And that's without the use of detergents and chemicals.
Before you start using this Deep Clean Microfiber Pad, give a wash. And do heed the 'do not use' notes above. No fabric softener - it tends to wreck the dirt-picking-potential of microfiber and bleach is not good for it either. I also do not put microfiber floor pads in the dryer (that's just me). They dry quickly just left on top of the dryer or hung.
You get a nice cleaning path with this wide base and with the swivel, you can mop fairly quickly so you can save a few chore minutes. I intended to do two floors the first test, but it was so quick that I did four. Because it's so light, you don't need a lot of effort to move it around. So this mop is ideal for those who need a light floor tool.Â
Count on removing the pad as needed to give it a quick hot rinse. It wrings out easily (has a spongy texture) so you don't need a lot of hand force and it attaches quickly. Take the lax (rinsing) approach and you'll just be dragging/smearing dirt around, as is typical with any type of mop.
Since it glides easily, it's nothing to go back over some tough spots and makes maintaining floors a breeze. When you consider the ease of using this tool, I don't know why anyone would want to use a traditional floor mop anymore.
One thing I was watching for is whether it would leave streaks on the laminate (the most noticeable). There were more before I gave it the initial wash. After that, just the occasional minor streaking. And it did not leave a stop-line of dirt as expected with some mops.
The e-cloth company also sells other handy pads for this handle if you want to make it a more versatile tool. That said, this Deep Clean pad did work very well dry, to dust the smooth ceilings and I can see doing it more often. It's amazing how much dust can accumulate there.Â
While dusting the kitchen ceiling, I came across a couple of spills (always amazes me how food can splash that high). Now I hate wiping a small section of ceiling, it usually leaves a noticeable clean swath. This damp mop wiped it clean and clear. Also did a good job on the higher entrance wall (better than my cotton wall washer usually does), so I will be exploring its wall-washing abilities further.
You can use it for any hard floor. I cleaned tile, vinyl and laminate with it. The trick with laminate or real wood floors, is not to linger anywhere with a wet mop, so moisture does not get into unsealed seams and edges. This mop is easy to wring out to a damp stage.
Overall performance of this floor mop was better than expected and I really like how the handle is built. I highly recommend it. Quality is evident and it has a good price point, given the design and function of the handle and swivel base. e-cloth® has a variety of microfiber cloths and more, that you might want to check out.
