- 1). Navigate to the folder where you want to create a directory. This can be done by double-clicking "Macintosh HD" and clicking through folders to find the one to which you must add another folder. If you want to add another folder to the desktop, simply remain on the desktop and progress to Step 2.
- 2). Click on the "File" menu on the top of the screen.
- 3). Click "New Folder."
- 4). Locate the new folder, titled "Untitled Folder," and rename it. To rename, click on the name of the folder and type the desired new name.
- 5). Click anywhere on the screen outside of the folder name to finalize the change.
