Troubleshooting Whirlpool Duet Frontload Washers
- 1). Press the “Pause/cancel” button two times if “F20” is displayed. Unplug the washer and inspect the water supply. Turn the faucets on completely. Clean the screens in the inlet hose and remove kinks in the hoses. Plug in the washer. Select the desired cycle and press the “Start” button. Call for service if the error code reappears.
- 2). Inspect the drain if “F21” is displayed. Press the “Pause/Cancel” button and unplug the washer. Remove kinks and clogs in the drain hose. Place the hose at least 96 inches from the floor for proper drainage. Plug the washer in and select the desired cycle. Press the “Start” button.
- 3). Use a different detergent if “Sud” appears on the display. Excessive suds triggers the code. Use high efficiency (He) detergents to prevent oversudsing.
- 4). Inspect the front door lock if “F22” is displayed. Press the “Pause/Cancel” button two times. Close the washer door firmly to latch the door. Remove clothing preventing the door from closing and latching. Press the “Power” button, followed by the “Start” button.
- 5). Press the “Pause/cancel” button two times to cancel the cycle if an “F” code other than “F20,” “F21” or “F22” appears on the display. Press the “Drain/Spin” button to remove excess water inside the washer. Select the appropriate cycle and press the “Start” button.
- 1). Plug the power cord into a grounded three-prong electrical outlet. Do not use extension cords.
- 2). Close the door firmly.
- 3). Press the “Start” button and hold for one second.

- 2). Plug the washer into a grounded three-prong outlet. Do not use an extension cord.
- 3). Determine if a suds routine has been activated. Allow the washer to complete the suds routine and resume normal operation.
- 4). Redistribute clothing in the washer to balance the load. Washing one item or a large item causes an imbalance. Add items, if needed.
