The Blue Note in Derby is one of Derby's oldest nightclubs spanning back 30 years and is still one of the most popular. Based on Sadlergate in Derby city centre, The Blue Note's origins are in Jazz but it now plays a variety of different music with a mainstream vibe to it. The nightclub is open 5 days a week and entry is free before 10pm on Saturday, 10.30 on Friday, 11.30 on Wednesday and all night on Monday and Thursday.

Coyote Wild, in Derby city centre, is more of a late night bar than nightclub, serving hot and cold food by day with bar games such as a bucking bronco and inflatable sumo suits. Located on Curzon Street, this is Derby's only primarily gay nightclub which has been established for more than 20 years. Curzon's has a resident DJ playing fresh and funky house music, pop, RnB as well as well as classic gay anthems. The club also has regular appearances by well known artists such as Shola Ama, Kelle le Roc and the Honeyz. Entry prices range from Free before midnight on Thursdays to 3.50 on a Saturday night when they are open until 4am.
Glasshouse Nightclub Derby - 53 Queen Street, DE1 3DU.
The Glasshouse in Derby used to be located opposite the Cathedral on Queen Street but has now closed down. Scream is the nightclub extention to The Friary pub on Friargate in Derby. The bar serves hot and cold food all day and into the evening and, along with the drinks, is very cheaply priced. This inevitably makes it a very popular venue with students. The venue is quite large and has a good, if sometimes a bit raucous atmosphere. There are also several pool tables and an arcade games machine.
Entry fee for Scream is around 5 on a weekend when the club is open until 3am. Weekday entry fees are less.
