How to Troubleshoot a GE Dishwasher That Stops Filling
- 1). Find the water line underneath the sink that is connected to the dishwasher and verify that the valve is turned on in a counterclockwise direction.
- 2). Pour 1 qt. of water into the dishwasher tub, if it is a new dishwasher that has not been used, to lubricate the pump seals. Start a new wash cycle and wait 10 minutes before stopping the dishwasher to make sure water has entered the unit.
- 3). Tap the overfill protection float, located in the lower left-hand corner of the tub, to make sure that it is not lodged into place.
- 4). Turn the control knob clockwise slowly to a wash cycle if the dishwasher has a dial. Select a new wash cycle and press "Start" if it is an electric panel.
- 5). Wait until the dishwasher has filled and then look inside the tub. Measure the water in the tub, which should be anywhere between 3/8 to 1 inch over the wash arm hub. Contact GE at 800-848-7620 if the water is below this level, as repair may be necessary.
