Use an Electric Wall Heater For Zone Heating
Unfortunately for most hard working home owners their heating system is controlled by one thermostat for the whole house.
Which means if you are in the bedroom you are also heating the living room, kitchen, office, den, play room etc etc etc all at the same temp.
So that means you have to do one of two things, freeze the whole house and invest in more sweaters or sweatshirts or turn the heat up and cringe ever time you get your utility bill each month.
One option you can do to reduce your gas or oil bill is to install an electric wall heater in one room of your house like a bedroom or a living room.
That one room you can have the temperature warmer, and lowering your furnace or boilers thermostat in there rest of your house.
This will reduce your gas or oil consumption which mean a lower utility bill at the end of the month.
This style of heating is also called zone controlled, electric wall heaters are perfect zone control heating.
You heat in that one room and you can turn the power on when you enter the room and turn the power off when you leave the room.
If you are more technically savvy you can install a digital programmable thermostat for your wall heater.
Just set the thermostat to turn on at a certain time and turn off at a certain time just let setting your morning alarm clock or your coffee pot.
Now that you are interested you are asking what is an electric wall heater and how does it work they are powered by electricity as opposed to natural gas or oil.
They are hard wired ( " not a plug in, like a portable space heater") There is a heating element inside every heater its simply an electrical resistor when the heater is on, electric current cause's resistance heating up a nickel & chromium elements.
You have a fan forced wall heater a fan will pull the air into the wall heater, the air will pass over the electric heating coils once the air is heated up it will shoot out the bottom part of the grille then back out into the room.
Fan forced heaters heat up the room quicker then a non fan forced heater but they will make some noise because there are moving parts The second style is convection non fan forced heater, this style doesn't have fan.
Convection wall heaters are usually larger heater with a wider heating coil.
Air enters from the bottom the air crosses the heating coils and exits out the top.
This is a quiet constant heat for when sound is a concern.
Electric wall heaters come in different wattage's, voltages and sizes to meet the needs of different size rooms.
Please contact a licensed electrician for which size wall heater will best meet your needs.
