The wall should at least be 6 feet tall.
This is helpful for the bees as well as this allow them to fly a little higher as well.
After some days when you feel that you know your honey bees better, ask your neighbors to come over and show them how you manage the bees.
This will increase your confidence and also, they will find it convincing about you having a hold about the situation.
Give them some honey to take back home as a token for their support.
When you visit your bee yard, it is always better if you have some sort of protective clothing on you.
For beginners, it is always better if they wear gloves, and a shirt with hoods.
As time passes, you can do away with the gloves as this can come in way when you do nuance moves.
Always protect your face, especially your ears and eyes and also your neck.
Wear a veil or a mask to get protection.
Also, when you wear protective clothing, go for light colored ones as these are opposite to their natural enemies like bears and skunks who have dark body coat.
Smoke is also a protective mechanism.

This works when the bees leave the hive mistaking it for fire.
