    • 1). Adjust the height of the ice maker so that it fits in the slot below a countertop. Tilt the ice maker forward to access the leveling legs. Use an adjustable wrench to turn the legs. Check for level with a bubble level. The ice maker won't work properly if it isn't level.

    • 2). Connect the drain tube to the standpipe. Position the stand pipe directly below the drain tube, if possible. Leave a 1-inch gap between the bottom of the ice maker drain hose and the top of the house drain. Place a pan below the drain hose and pour water into the ice bin. Make sure water doesn't wet the rear cover.

    • 3). Provide a water supply. Shut off the main water supply. Turn a faucet on nearby to clear the line. Install an ice maker shut-off valve in a vertical cold water pipe. Don't use a saddle-type valve with these high-capacity ice makers. Turn the water supply on again and flush debris from the water supply line into a bucket. Shut off the water at the valve.

    • 4). Connect the water supply. Route a GE Smart Connect kit tube between the water supply valve and the ice maker. Insert the molded end of the GE Smart Connect kit tubing into the ice maker connection and hand tighten the compression nut. Tighten one additional turn with the wrench. Connect the other end of the kit to the shut-off valve following the same compression installation procedure.

    • 5). Reverse the door swing, if necessary. Remove the handle screws and lift the handle off. Remove the hinge pin from the top hinge. Lift the door off the bottom hinge. Put the hinge pin back into the top hinge. Remove the screws and end caps. Move the screws and end caps over to the other side of the ice maker cavity.

    • 6). Reverse the hinges. Remove the screw hole plugs with the putty knife. Remove the screws and turning the hinge upside down, replace the hinge on the opposite side. Reassemble the door hardware.

    • 7). Reverse the door catch. Remove the screws from the magnetic catch and re-install the catch on the opposite side of the cavity.
