Now that most of the wedding has been planned and the budget is nearly spent there is often a mere pittance to spend on wedding favors. If this sounds like your wedding, then don't despair, you can have wedding favors that fit your style and your budget.

As the prices seem to skyrocket some brides consider making their own favors to give to guests. There are many excellent favors that can be made easily and inexpensively.

Inexpensive Favors

Start by identifying the theme and color scheme of your wedding and reception. Choose one or two colors that would match or complement these colors and then scour the neighborhood department stores, dollar stores and bulk shops for things that may match.

Often searching online can net a huge savings. A place to start is Michaels.com that offers great deals on bulk purchases. Even a search on Walmart.com can speed up the search for inexpensive favors for your wedding.

Consider going to the local department store or dollar store and buying some inexpensive favor boxes. These can be filled with candy, jelly beans or almonds and tastefully decorated with monogrammed sticker (from Staples.com) or tied with an accenting ribbon. It does not require a significant time commitment and budgets can be trimmed with some 'do it yourself' action.

Beautiful and inexpensive favor boxes can be used to accent the place setting at the guest's tables or delicately arranged in a basket for the guests to take on their own. Each box should be a reflection of the bride and groom's personality.

Match the Wedding Theme

Favor boxes should accent or match the wedding theme. If the wedding is taking place on or near Valentine's Day then heart shaped candy or red heart stickers can be used to seal the favor boxes.

Christmas wedding favors can be decorated with shining silver snow flakes, and finished with white or silver edged ribbons. Additional accents such as embossed ribbons, and name tags can also be added for more personalized attention.

One of the least expensive and easiest to manage favors is the candy bag favor. Go to the nearest department store, party supply outlet or dollar store and search for sheer organza sacs. They are simple and elegant and come in a variety of colors to balance any dcor. If the store does not have enough of one color mix, buy two matching or complementary colors. Avoid getting too many colors or they will clash.

Most organza bags have beautiful satin ribbon drawstrings that can be tied to keep the candies inside. Now all you have to do is decide on the contents of the candy bag. Grocery stores and bulk outlets often have a great selection of candy that can be used to fill up the favor bags.

Whatever you choose the favor is a memento and a thank you to your guests for sharing your special day.
