Food is the source of life - not to mention the intersection of culture and society, nature and health and business, industry and politics. The delicate balance of these forces underlies the theme of the Food Film Festival, an initiative of the Youth Food Movement, the Dutch chapter of the Slow Food Youth Movement. Each May, Amsterdam visitors and residents can feast on feature films, shorts and documentaries, each of which explores a different facet of food, its traditions and production.


Food-themed workshops and events - from lectures and debates to dance parties - round out the festival schedule, Specially for the occasion, a pop-up restaurant offers diners Slow Food dishes - that is, locally sourced, natural foods, which can also be picked up at the festival market. Look out for the country's most celebrated Slow Foods.for a chance to savor the products of Dutch terroir.
