How to Remove the Motor Cover of a Canister Vacuum

    • 1). Turn the vacuum power switch to "Off" and pull the electrical cord from the power supply source. Never work on a vacuum while it is plugged in.

    • 2). Remove hoses, dust bag, and filters if they are in the way. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws that bind the motor cover to the canister unit. Set the screws aside where they will not be lost.

    • 3). Lift off the motor cover.

    • 4). Remove the screws that hold down the motor cover plate. Set them aside where they will not be lost.

    • 5). Service the motor as needed. Reverse steps 2 through 4 to return the motor cover to the unit.
