- 1). Log in to Facebook and write a status update, note or instant messaging chat entry. Type a song lyric or loving phrase, for example.
- 2). Press the keyboard's "Number Lock" key, which may be abbreviated "Num Lk" or something similar, depending on the size of your keyboard's keys.
- 3). Use your keyboard's number pad to create music notes or hearts in Facebook. You will not be successful if you use the standard numbers that reside at the top of your keyboard. Laptop users should find a number pad on their keyboard by looking for rows of small numbers beginning from the "7," "u" and "j" keys.
- 4). Insert a large musical note into the entry by holding the "Alt" key and typing the numbers "1," then "4" on the keyboard's number pad. Combine "Alt" along with the numbers "1" and "3" to create a small music note.
- 5). Place a heart into a Facebook text field by holding down the "Alt" key and pressing the number "3" on the number pad.
