- 1). Hook your Pro Tools hardware up to your computer via the USB cord and plugs. Insert the Pro Tools installation disc and run it to install the software. Plug your condenser microphone into one of the recording jacks on the Pro Tools hardware.
- 2). Click on "File" in the Pro Tools top menu and select "New Track" to begin recording. Press the "Phantom Power" switch on the Pro Tools hardware to the "On" position to begin. Only turn on "Phantom Power" if you are using a condenser microphone.
- 3). Press "Record" to set up your track for recording. It will automatically record to the open track you created earlier. Sing into the microphone and watch the volume levels on Pro Tools. Turn the "Gain" knob down on the Pro Tools hardware if the volume level is red. Turn it down until it's as loud as possible without being red.
- 4). Press "Record" again and sing your vocals. Push "Stop" when you're done. Hit "Play" on the Pro Tools software program to listen to your track. Re-record it if you are unhappy with it. Click on "File" and then on "Save As" to name and save the track if you are happy with it. Save it as a "WAV" file.
- 5). Close Pro Tools and open up Fruity Loops. Click on "Channel Presets" on the left side menu to open a drop-down menu. Choose "Sampler" from the menu. Select "Default" and click and drag it to the sequencer bar to the right. Place it on any of the open tracks.
- 6). Select the "Sampler" track and find the drop-down bar that has "(none)" written inside. Click on the "Browse" folder to the left of this menu to open up a program browser option. Find your Pro Tool vocal track and select it to make it the available track.
- 7). Click on the small piano at the top left that is labeled "View Piano Roll." Click the top-down menu when the "Piano Roll" appears and choose your sampler. Click on the start of the track underneath the "1" and on the "C5" note to place your Pro Tool track in Fruity Loops.
