How to Turn Your Cursor Into a Spotlight for Tutorials
- 1). Use CamStudio Open Source screencasting software. You can highlight your cursor for your screencasts by clicking "Options" from the menu at the top of your screen and then clicking "Cursor Options." Click the check box next to "Highlight Cursor." Choose the color and shape of the highlight behind your cursor; then press "OK." Your cursor will be highlighted during your next screencast.
- 2). Use Camtasia to highlight your mouse pointer during a screencast. Select "Record Screen" from the menu that appears when you start Camtasia. Click the "Tools" menu from the window that appears when you start a new screencast, select "Cursor" and then click "Highlight Cursor." Select "Options..." from the effects menu to change the shape, size and translucency of the highlight behind your cursor.
- 3). Download a highlighted cursor from the Internet. If your screencast software does not give you the option to highlight your cursor during a screencast, downloading a cursor that has a highlight around it will ensure that your cursor is always visible when creating a tutorial. Sites such as Cursormania.com and rw-designer.com offer free highlighted cursors to download. After you download your cursor, set it as your default cursor before starting your screencast. Open "Control Panel" on your computer and select "Mouse" from the list of options. Click the "Pointers" tab from the window that appears, highlight "Normal Select" in the window below and click the "Browse..." button. Navigate to where the highlighted pointer you downloaded is and click "OK."
