Location of the Pilot Light on a Whirlpool Gas Dryer
- 1). Unplug your dryer and turn the gas valve clockwise to temporarily shut off the gas supply.
- 2). Move your dryer out from the wall a few inches, and position it so you have access to the front and both sides.
- 3). Locate the screws that hold the front panel in place. You may have to tilt the dryer backward against the wall to access the screws from underneath the unit.
- 4). Remove the screws and lift the front panel off. Set the panel and the screws aside.
- 5). Look at the bottom of the inside of the dryer. Depending upon your model, your pilot light may be on the right or the left. If you can locate the pulley, the pilot light will be on the opposite side.
- 6). Look for a long, narrow metal tube that runs parallel to the floor, from the back of the dryer to the front. This is the burner tube assembly, which houses the pilot light.
