Kitchens in condos and apartments are typically on the small side and lack sufficient cupboard space.
Condo dwellers may find that they have a tough time storing their dishes, glasses and other kitchenware in their tight spaces, leaving them with the need to come up with creative and inventive ways to create more storage space.
The following are some tips for maximizing your kitchen space in your condo.
Tip #1 - Make Use of Wall and Ceiling Space Just about every kitchen - big or small - has some unused wall space within the room.
Perhaps you have a small island with empty wall space above it, or some space in the dividing wall from the kitchen to the living room.
This is a great opportunity to use this space to install a decorative and functional shelving unit of reach that you can then use to store added dishes and cookware.
Tap into this otherwise useless space for additional storage! Tip #2 - Add a Small Island Kitchens in small condo units might not have islands or peninsulas installed in the kitchen.
In these cases, consider purchasing a small island or rolling cart that you can use both to store extra cookware and kitchen utensils, and use for additional counter space.
These small carts or islands are super convenient and small enough to fit just about anywhere in your kitchen space.
Tip #3 - Make Use of Your Backsplash The backsplash above your counter is typically used for decorative purposes, but think about the amount of extra space you could free up on your countertops if you used some of this backsplash space! Many condo interior designers have provided creative tips such as this to their clients when trying to free up some space for storage in a condo.
Consider mounting a utensil crock near the stove, or even a spice rack.
Using up some backsplash space an free up a good deal of countertop space.
Tip #4 - Add Some Baskets at the Top of Your Cabinets If you have some space between the top of your kitchen cabinetry and the ceiling, you can make good use of this space by adding decorative baskets that can house many of your least-often used utensils and platters.
These baskets can serve two tasks - providing both a functional and decorative use for your kitchen.
Tip #5 - Make Use of the Back of Your Cabinet Doors The back of cabinet doors can also be used to create storage space for items that you have no idea where to put.
You can actually find hangers meant specifically for doors that provide organizing and storage space for a variety of items.
For example, you can hang one of these door organizers behind a cabinet door to house things like garbage bags, food wrap, utensils, and anything else you desire.
The possibilities are vast when it comes to creating additional storage space in your small kitchen space.
Simply look around at empty spaces and think of creative ways to fill this void space for your kitchen supplies!
