How to Decorate an Apartment Wall With Curtains

    Curtain Wall

    • 1). Measure across the width of one wall in the apartment. Pick a wall that will not have any furniture in front of it to make a statement with the curtains or use the wall behind your bed if you want to make a headboard out of curtains.

    • 2). Attach the curtain rod or wire to the wall, just below the ceiling. The rod should stretch from one corner of the wall to the other. Use hardware appropriate to your walls to support the weight of the wall. For example, if you cannot drill into a drywall stud, use anchors to hold up the curtain rod.

    • 3). Hang the curtains from the rod. Use curtains that stretch from the ceiling to the floor but do not pool onto the floor. Use enough curtain panels to stretch from corner to corner, covering the entire wall. Mix and match the color of the panels or use a single color. Sheer curtains provide a lighter look while velvet panels are elegant and suitable for winter or fall.

    • 4). Use the curtains as a room divider by stretching the curtain wire from one wall to the wall across the way, instead of stretching the wire across a single wall. Hang the curtains on the wire. When you want to open up the room, simply push the curtains over to one wall.

    Single Curtain Panel

    • 1). Attach a row of adhesive strips to the top edge of a curtain panel. Use a curtain panel in a bold color or pattern or a more muted pattern if you prefer.

    • 2). Hang the panel on the wall, either at eye level or so that it stretches from ceiling to floor.

    • 3). Play around with positioning the curtain in creative ways. For example, fold the curtain in on itself and attach the fabric together with adhesive strips or gather the curtain into an hourglass shape and tie in place with a piece of ribbon.
