How to Change the Location of an Outlook PST File

    Move the File

    • 1). Open Outlook. Click "File" and "Data File Management." Note the current location of the PST file and close the program.

    • 2). Navigate to the folder where the PST file is stored and select it. Press "CTRL" and "X" to "cut" the file from that location.

    • 3). Open the location where you would like to store the PST file and press "CTRL" and "V" to paste the file into the new location.

    Point Outlook to the New Location

    • 1). Open Outlook again, and click "File" and "Data File Management."

    • 2). Click "Add" and select the first option if you are using Outlook 2003 or later; use the second option if you are using an earlier version. Click "OK."

    • 3). Browse to the new location of your PST file and select it. Click "OK" and click "OK" again. This will update Outlook with the new location of your PST file.
