- 1). Find and download a freeware program or utility that allows you to decompress LZH compressed files. Free to download and use, 7-Zip, PeaZip and Universal Extractor are popular formats that support the extraction of LZH archive files. Save the program installation file on the computer.
- 2). Wait for the Web browser to complete the download of the decompression utility. Browse to the folder where you saved the file. Double-click it to run the setup program for the utility. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the application. Restart the computer if prompted to do so.
- 3). Click the "Start" button. Double-click "Computer" or "My Computer" and browse to the folder on th hard drive that contains the LZH file you want extract.
- 4). Right-click on the LZH file name. Click "Extract," "Extract Here" or "Uncompress" on the pop-up menu.
- 5). Wait for the file to extract. Press the "F5" key on the keyboard to refresh the contents of the folder and view the files created by the extraction.
