To generate targeted traffic to your website through article marketing you'll have to create keyword-focused articles for your promotions.
First decide if you're going to write for your niche generally or specifically target groups in the niche.
You may write generally for your niche if the products you sell are for the whole niche.
You should write specifically for a target group if your products are for specific targets in the niche.
The more targeted your articles are, the better the results you'll get through them.
Once you know whom you'll write for, you can then get related keywords for your chosen niche or target group.
You'll create article topics from these keywords and also use them in the body of your articles.
If you are going to be promoting your articles on social bookmarking websites or your blog, you can also use tags to associate your articles with words or phrases on the social bookmarking websites, the tags are likely to be related to your niche or targets.
You can use those tags too on your blog, when you post your articles before pinging them.
This will also help you to create targeted article content.
Apart from using keywords and tags, if you're an affiliate doing promotions to get leads for your merchants, you can also create articles specifically for the offers provided by your merchant as incentives for getting leads.
You should submit your targeted articles to online websites accepting article submissions.
Because your articles are targeted, it will become easier for the search engines to pick them up wherever you submit them.
