- 1). Choose the wizard class for the main character at the beginning of the game, or make sure to have at least one wizard join the party.
- 2). Have your wizard learn the fourth level spells called "improved invisibility" and "secret word." The wizard should use one fourth level spell slot to memorize secret word, and all of the rest of the slots on improved invisibility.
- 3). Purchase an extra scroll or two of improved invisibility from one of the merchants who sells spell scrolls in Athkatla.

Valygar
Go to the Slums District with Valygar in your party and enter the Planar Sphere. Without Valygar, the door to the Planar Sphere will not open. If you don't already have him in your party, he can be found in his cabin in the Umar Hills. - 5
Inside the Planar Sphere
Make your way through the Planar Sphere until you enter the room where Lavok is waiting. Do not approach Lavok yet, but instead have your wizard cast improved invisibility on all of the party members. Anyone under the effect of the improved invisibility spell cannot be targeted by combat spells. Since Lavok only casts combat spells and will not engage your party in direct combat, he won't attack the group at all. - 6). Approach Lavok, who will give a short speech and then attack the party. Have your wizard immediately cast "secret word" on him to remove his magical defenses which would otherwise make him almost impossible to hit.
- 7). Attack Lavok with your strongest fighters and have your wizard cast attack spells such as magic missile at him to quickly kill him before the improved invisibility spell wears off.
