- The cost for supplies to make handprint coasters is minimal. Most items can be found around the house like scissors, a shallow dish and heavy paper such as construction paper or card stock. You'll also need water-based acrylic or tempera paint and clear contact paper.
- Pour paint into a shallow dish. Dip child’s hand into paint -- or use a small foam brush to apply paint to the palm-- and make a handprint on the selected paper. Set aside to dry. Repeat this step until you have made as many prints as needed for your set of coasters.
Once dry, cut the handprints to size -- compare to the base of a standard drinking glass. Leave approximately a ½-inch edge to prevent liquids from leaking on to the table.
