Stocking up For Mothers Day
As a small business owner, you need to take advantage of this great opportunity! Make sure you market your products well to increase sales during this advantageous time period.
Here are some ideas for how to get ready for mother's day:
- Stock your stores! Carefully select items that will interest your customers. You know what they like. And if you don't, now's a good time to recognize that and implement a system to elicit customer feedback. Choose products that make great gifts, and target the age bracket that you normally serve. If you sell trendy products, give up on getting a client to buy the perfect bag for her senior mom. Instead, focus on the young and middle aged moms.
- Try displaying products in sets. Customers love them as gifts, as they appear more gift-worthy than a simple bag or something more "regular." They are also of higher monetary value, so it's worthwhile for you to try to sell as many as you can.
- If you own an internet business, get some good mommy graphics on your home page, and prominently feature great gift ideas. If you have a traditional storefront, put a large sign in your window and several others strategically placed around the store. Showcase gifts in the window as well, as place some pretty gifts sets and trinkets next to the cash register.
- Offer mothers day discounts. Especially if you have expensive items on sale as gifts, giving a small reduction may be just the right incentive to get more customer through the door and ring up extra sales. And if everyone else is doing it, you need to do it, too.
- Jazz up your current selection. Besides for the extra merchandise you bring in as gifts, more people in the store means more opportunities to make other sales, as well. plus, you never know what a customer will buy – make sure that in addition to gifts, your regular offerings are spectacular. Even if they don't tempt customers who are just in it for the gift, you'll impress them so they come to you when they need something else.
