How to Make an LDS Primary Tri-Fold Stand
- 1). Measure your cardboard, and determine the size of your tri-fold stand. The stand will resemble the cardboard tri-fold displays marketed for science projects, but it will be small enough to fit in a tote bag when folded up.
- 2). Trim the cardboard to the desired size using an X-acto knife. It should be a rectangle shape.
- 3). Measure the width of the cardboard and divide the measurement by four. For example, if your cardboard is 16 inches wide, divide 16 by four to get 4 inches. The two outer sections of the tri-fold stand will each be 4 inches wide. These are the sections that will fold in.
- 4). Make two lines the length of the cardboard, on the back of the cardboard. Using the above example, you will have two vertical lines, each 4 inches from the edges. Once you have drawn the lines with a pencil, score the cardboard with an X-acto knife. To do this, line your ruler up on the vertical lines. Hold the ruler in place with one hand while you run the X-acto knife along the ruler. Do not push so hard with the knife that it cuts all the way through the cardboard. Repeat with the other line.
- 5). Turn the cardboard over and fold the two sides in until they meet in the middle. This will be the position your tri-fold stand is in when you transport it to church. To use it in class, stand it up on a table with the two flaps facing front. Use binder clips to hold pictures against the top edges of the tri-fold stand. Alternatively, you can put a piece of sticky-backed velcro on the tri-fold stand and the opposite side of the velcro on the back of your visual aid.
