He With the Gold Makes the Rules and if Not Kept in Check, will Exploit the Masses

There are many forms of government in the world and a Dictatorship is one of them.
All too often in Dictatorships problems arise from a Machiavellian view and the need to retain power.
We all know that he with the gold makes the rules.
We also know that absolute power corrupts absolutely, so if a leader is not kept in check, they will work to exploit the masses to stay in control.
Recently in an online forum discussion on this matter it was discussed how Osama bin Laden used his money and power to exploit people and how other dictators kept the masses in poverty to control them and recruit them to serve their anger and political will to the detriment of the rest of the world.
One comment on this online forum was of interest, the forum participant said; "Use Osama Bin laden as an example.
He used his money to recruit terrorists.
Look at North Korea.
The leaders power comes from the fact that he keeps his people in poverty.
Look at Iran.
" Indeed this is an interesting comment is it not? And we know from history that the use of recruiting soldiers, terrorists or bad guys for any cause is well known.
Many conquerors recruited and fed their followers and allowed them the spoils of their exploits so history shows how a warrior class could conquer through raping and pillaging.
This is not a new trend in recruitment.
And once a civilization or society is impoverished they are more easily controlled, having no means to right the wrongs.
Perhaps everyone ought to re-read "The Prince" and think on this in 2006.
