      Try to locate the lounge in a room with a window. Hang drapes that can be pulled if the sun shines in or after dark for privacy. Use a bright, solid color that compliments the wall color and the wood in the room.

      Use light-colored wood for countertops and tables. Uniform colors create a sense of space. Purchase lunch tables, dining chairs and side tables that are well designed, not institutional furniture.

      Dedicate one wall to food and beverage preparation. Install a microwave, a small sink and a fridge that's big enough to hold drinks and lunches without crowding. Vending machines are unattractive and take up space, so consider using the honor system for drinks and snacks, or make them a company perk.

      Install an attractive ceiling fan for ventilation. Rooms that are used by many people and for cooking can become stuffy.

      Create several comfortable seating areas with side tables. Choose a solid-colored fabric for the chairs that mirrors the draperies. Use chairs that don't limit the mobility of the people sitting in them so they can use their laptops or writing materials.

      Provide dishes and flatware for your employees. Consider installing a dishwasher in the cooking area so that sinks filled with dirty dishes don't become an issue. Use attractive trash cans with swinging lids.
