How to Heat a Gas Stove & Broiler
- 1). Turn off the gas shut-off valve on the end of the gas supply pipeline. Wrap yellow sealing tape twice clockwise around the thread on the shut-off valve, as well as the inlet on the back of the gas stove/broiler.
- 2). Screw the nut on one end of the flexible gas supply hose to the male threaded inlet on the stove/broiler, and the nut on the other end of the hose to the thread on the shut-off valve. Use a crescent wrench to tighten both nuts in place. Turn on the gas shut-off valve to release gas to the stove/broiler.
- 3). Mix some soapy water and apply it with a brush around both hose nuts. If bubbles are seen where the nuts attach to the threads, gas is escaping and the nuts need to be tightened with the wrench until the bubbles cease.
- 4). Insert the stove/broiler's electrical plug into the wall receptacle. Turn the control dials on the stove/broiler 90 degrees clockwise to ignite the gas. When the gas has ignited, move the dial to the correct setting for the desired level of gas. Turn on the stove's oven dial to the desired temperature (the stove's igniter may take a few seconds to ignite the gas which will fill the burner in the base of the oven).
