Room Ideas for Front Living Areas
- Create a lovely sitting nook. This way, if visitors come to pick you or your family members up, they have somewhere comfortable to sit and wait without having to come all the way into your living room. This sitting area can also serve as a place for you to gather yourself before heading out. You can sit down to put on your shoes if you don’t like wearing shoes into your home. Depending on how large the front living area is, you might be able to place just one chair there, or a small loveseat and sofa chair.
- A console table with a mirror over it adds beauty and functionality to your front living area. You can check your reflection in the mirror before you head out the door to ensure that you look perfect. And when coming in from the outside, the console table provides a place to set down your mail and your keys. If your area is large enough to put a sofa in, you may want to also add a side table or coffee table, giving you more surface space to place flowers and other aesthetically pleasing items.
- Make use of the walls in your entry area by adding hanging storage. Mount shelving hooks or decorative hooks with adhesive backings for a handy place to hang your keys, dog leashes, sweaters and umbrellas. That way, when you’re headed out the door, everything you need is within easy sight and reach.
- Cubbies provide a chic way to store shoes. Simply slide them off as soon as you enter the home and stick them in a cubby. Cubbies can go underneath a bench for minimum visibility, or they can be stacked on top of each other to create a surface where you can place mail, keys or a decorative vase. And best of all, you’ll avoid tracking mud into your home on rainy days.
