As Old As You Are
With the teeth bones have broken, The body had worn the best of clothes, The high ill shoes all gone away, And the eyes stricken with no more shadows, The belly ceased for sumptuous meals, And the organs fail for lovers play, As the reality of time set in, As though we never shared all in us.
Come still to me my precious, Even as old as you are, My heart longs for you all day, Though stricken in age and days, My heart longs for you all day, As we go slowly even to beach, And eat vegetable as though bones, Yet, our love never is old in us.
