Case Manager Supervisor Job Responsibilities & Duties
- A case manager supervisor works to ensure adequate organization and delivery of case management services for clients with various conditions, such as development disabilities, chronic illness and mental retardation. He processes requests for services by attaining and completing required assessments, completing social histories of clients and gaining documentation to determine a client's eligibility for programs. He organizes and maintains client files and completes the required documentation for individual case files. He also conducts the planning process for obtaining services for clients.
- A case manager supervisor often acts as a mediator between clients, family members and guardians and human services providers and agencies. She works to meet the needs of clients and helps them receive the necessary services that have been acknowledged in the planning process. She starts the transfer process of clients to additional services or ends services when there is no longer a need or request by the client. A case manager supervisor also provides technical, theoretical and practical assistance to case managers for appropriate and specific handling of cases. She assists with the utilization of community resources and professional services to ensure case managers have the necessary assistance to meet the needs of clients.
- A case manager supervisor is responsible for the daily supervisor of caseworkers and the case management unit in a specific organization or network. She engages in the training and development of staff members to make sure all casework employees meet expectations. She organizes training and orientation of new case managers according to the general case management technical conditions and orientates social workers to regulatory conditions. A case manager supervisor also regularly checks cases of clients to make sure that case managers abide by timelines -- meeting the needs of clients, correctly documenting cases and following standards. She creates supervision plans that relate to service needs and the ability of individual employees to meet these particular needs.
- A case manager supervisor monitors all cases and provides backup assistance for specific cases when the assigned case manager is absent. He also acts as a liaison for case managers and upper management personnel. He assists case managers with developing and employing mediation and intervention techniques to resolve conflicts. A case manager supervisor composes reports, maintains data and presents information regarding case management tasks to upper management, committees, service providers and the public.
