    Visa Application Forms

    • You should bring two copies of the form DS-156. The non-immigrant visa applications should be filled out identically. If you are a K-1 or K-2 visa applicant, make sure you present your application at the interview and do not fill it out online. Do not forget to bring one copy of form DS-156K, the Non-immigrant Fiance(e) Visa Application.

    Medical Examination

    • You will have had your medical examination performed by an authorized physician before your interview. Bring the sealed envelope with you. The Consular Office will not accept unsealed envelopes or envelopes that appear to have been tampered with.

    Birth Certificate

    • You will need to show your original, certified birth certificate at the interview. It should be in long form, with your name and date of birth along with the names of both of your parents. There should be an indication that it is a true copy from official records.

    Divorce Decree

    • If you or your U.S. citizen fiance(e) have been divorced, then you must bring the divorce decree to the interview with you. Be prepared to present a divorce decree for every marriage you or your fiance(e) has entered into. If either one of you has been widowed, bring the death certificate of the former spouse.

    Police Records

    • Present police certificates from any country that you have resided in for more than 6 months. If you have children over the age of 16, obtain police certificates for each child and bring them also.

    Financial Information

    • You are required to prove that while in the U.S. you will not become a public charge. Bring evidence that you have enough funds to support yourself during your stay. Your U.S. citizen fiance(e) may also provide you with financial documentation to show that she can provide support for you. Contact your Consular Office to see if they require an Affidavit of Support, form I-135 -- if so, fill it out and bring it along.

    Passport and Photos

    • You will need two 2-by-2-inch photos along with your passport. Your passport must not only be current, but be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in the U.S.

    Relationship Evidence

    • Bring any pertinent evidence you have that documents the relationship between you and your fiance(e). This may include photos from your time together or flight tickets from trips. If you have letters or holiday cards to each other from abroad, consider bringing a couple of them.
