"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Hints
- Use the magic spells you learn throughout the game to improve your chances of winning duels. Try Petrificus Totalus to freeze your foe or Levi Corpus to levitate him. Then hit him with the Stupefy or Expelliarmus attacks, waiting for this spell to charge before releasing it. Against most foes, this will result in a one-hit victory, although later duels may prove more difficult.
- There is a reason to pick up all of those Hogwarts Crests you find hidden around the school, as you earn more rewards the more you collect. Find eight crests, and you get more health during you duels. Play in a new dueling arena after getting 14 crests. Earn a higher score boost in flying events by collecting 38 crests. For those you have a hard time figuring out how to get, try the Wingardium Leviosa spell. This often frees the crests from their locations.
- You can find and use several shields in the game, some of which are tricky to get. If you spot a shield behind a locked gate, use the Wingardium Leviosa spell to pick up the shield and smash it into a wall. This will break the shield, allowing you to bring the pieces through the gate. Repair the shield to make it whole again.
- The game has a strange auto-save system that often does not save recent events when you are in the middle of tasks such as making potions or playing in a Quidditch match. You should always finish such tasks completely before saving and turning off the game. Otherwise, you may have to repeat some parts of the action.
