Storm Shadows first appearance in the GI Joe comic is the highly acclaimed GI Joe: A Real American Hero #21, an issue that had no written dialogue.

Origin:

Storm Shadow was a longtime comrade of Snake Eyes, who served together with fellow GI Joe team member Stalker.

His family is a ninja clan that has trained the deadliest assassins for decades. Snake Eyes also trained with the Arashikage's and was even surpassing Storm Shadow in his skills. Due to a botched assassination attempt, Storm Shadow's uncle and leader of the clan was killed. Storm Shadow blames Snake Eyes for the death and since then the two have been bitter rivals.
As an agent of Cobra, Storm Shadow has served as Cobra Commander's bodyguard and a top agent of the terrorist organization. He is a master of many different martial arts, as well as being deadly with several weapons. Storm Shadow is Cobra's top assassin and one of GI Joe's top foes.
