Creating a Sellable Online Product

The majority of online marketers have created or acquired digital products that they believed would sell reasonably well and, in their enthusiasm, then started to set up everything including sales letters, websites and traffic methods.

However, a lot of these marketers have forgotten the single, most important factor that will determine their product sales - the "sellability" of their product.

It is essential that when you begin creating products or acquiring rights to a certain product to sell, that you have a good idea of the expected demand for the product. Will people really want it?

Ideally, are they likely to beat a path to your door to buy it? Are they going to be 'hungry' for what you have to offer?

Obviously, it is economically silly to waste, say, a month's time preparing a product, setting up the website and the necessary sales process just to find that people do not really care about your product at all.

Of course, your final goal is to deliver the product to your valued customer and receive your payment. So to achieve this aim, you must make absolutely sure that your customer wants to purchase your great product in the first place.

But how do you find out if they really want your product in the first place?

Well, the simple solution is to just ask!

You can visit forums related to your niche and then hold a survey or poll. To find relevant forums you can search in Google with the name of your niche and then add €+ forum"

This should present you with a list of forums you can get involved with to do some important market research.

For example, let's say that you have an idea for creating step-by-step instructions on how to cook Korean dishes using duck as the main ingredient. First, you must ascertain if anyone is interested in cooking these kinds of meals.

So now you need to visit a food-related forum, ideally one that is focused on Korean or Oriental foods. Your task then is to find out if anyone would be interested in the recipes that you have in mind.

It is vital that you do not just ask if anyone would wish to purchase an eBook on how to cook Korean food using duck. This could lead to accusations of spamming and you could then be in danger of being barred from the forum.

On the other hand, if you can provide a few samples of your special recipes to those who express an interest then this will certainly help you to reach a marketing decision.

If they are enthusiastic for learning more, then you will probably have a viable product idea. If they show no interest, then it is time to look for a new idea to market.

This may appear like a long winded exercise but it will save a great deal of time when creating a product that has little or no demand.

Now if your idea is welcomed by the forum members that you have managed to survey then you can go ahead and prepare your eBook knowing that is has a good chance of becoming a good seller and putting money into your bank account.

Also, if there is at least some initial interest, you can then usually drum up further desire for your product. And the combination of strong desire and some rigorous, positive marketing should ensure a steady stream of paying customers.
