- 1). Display the flag hanging vertically with the North Star in the lower-right, and display it hanging horizontally with the star in the upper-right.
- 2). Display the U.S. Flag in the position of highest honor --- to an observer's extreme left --- when displaying it with the Alaskan State Flag. In group flag displays, flags are honored by importance from left to right --- left being of the highest honor. The U.S. Flag is always displayed to the far left, followed by foreign countries' flags in alphabetical order, followed by the host state's flag, followed by other state flags in alphabetical order, or the order of each state's ratification of the U.S. Constitution, followed by county flags and then municipal flags.
- 3). Fold the flag lengthwise twice, then fold it crosswise three times with the North star displayed at the top, when storing the flag.
- 4). Retire tattered Alaskan State Flags --- when possible --- with a public or private ceremony with uniformed military personnel.
