The MythBusters has become the Discovery Channel's most watched science TV show.
It has even won Emmy Awards.
The series was created in 2002 by an Australian production company and operates out of San Francisco, California.
It has captured the imagination of both young and old even including viewer submissions for myth busting ideas.
This television show just makes science, entertaining and fun.
The main characters for this show are Adam Savage and Jaime Hyneman who along with a second team take all sorts of myths, movie scenes, or rumors to experiment.
Adam and Jaime are professional special effects creator working mostly out of Hyneman's effects shop.
Early in the television series, members of the build team began to appear on episodes.
Soon Kari Byron, Tory Belleci, and Scottie Chapman made up a second myth busting team exploring their own set of myths on the show.
Kari is a profession artist and is helpful in coming up with design ideas and preparing projects.
Tory has a particular talent for robotics.
He has even contributed to work in the "Star Wars" movies.
Scottie is a great metalworker and often becomes the stunt guinea pig on the show.
Whenever the MythBuster teams approach an experiment, they format the conclusion as Confirmed, Plausible, or Busted.
If they can make an idea work in some manner but it is not in a particularly practical way, then they will call it plausible.
They perform an experiment first to try to replicate the myth exactly and then if that does not produce the result; they will expand the idea to try to create the result.
Typically, most myths require special builds and quite often the use of firearms, explosives, or vehicle destruction is involved.
They do always warn against viewers performing any of these myth experiments and take steps to insure the safety of the myth busting teams as well.
Some of their most memorable myth experiments are the Archimedes solar ray, which even included an appearance of President Barak Obama.
Multitudes of mirrors were set up to see if solar heat could damage a boat.
Unfortunately, the myth was busted.
They have also done rocket cars, seasickness treatments, shooting fish in a barrel, the shoot through the floor movie scene on Underworld, and even lifesaving myths like getting out of a car under water.
Jaime and Adam have appeared on several other entertainment programs such as Good Morning America, The Late Show with David Letterman, and even the episode of CSI - "The Theory of Everything".
It has become a very popular show not only on Discover Channel but also on television and cable period.
In fact, cable TV is a great way to catch up on many of the past MythBusters shows if you haven't seen it.
You can find MythBusters re-runs on cable at about any time of the day.
MythBusters has engaged tv viewers in the world of science in an effectively entertaining way.
