Tracy Lawrence Concert Review
On February 24th Tracy Lawrence brought his show to the beautiful outside setting of the Twin Mansions Theater in Silver Springs, Florida. It was a beautiful day for an outside show with sunshine, a light breeze and temperatures in the mid 70's. Definitely not bad for the end of February and one of the big reasons I love Florida! It was a Tracy double shot day, as Tracy Byrd was onstage just before Tracy Lawrence.
The lawn was packed way back into the far corners with people ready for some great music and they were not disappointed by either act.
Tracy Lawrence hit the stage singing "Just Like That" and the audience erupted in cheers. Lawrence really isn't much for general chit chat but boy can he sing. He did acknowledge the crowd and ask if anyone saw him walking around the park before the show with his two girls and several people yelled and clapped. Lawrence has a very laid back style onstage and just sings his heart out. He was onstage about an hour and in that time he managed to squeeze in sixteen songs. He also did a little instrumental jamming with his band here and there.
One of the things that has always impressed me about Lawrence is his very unique voice. There is no mistaking who it is that is singing the song. More and more, artists are all starting to sound the same and I really miss hearing the opening of a song and knowing immediately who is singing whether I know that particular song or not.
With Lawrence, there is no question who is behind the microphone the minute you hear him sing. And the lyrics he chooses all have a story that almost everyone can relate to.
"If The World Had A Front Porch" makes me think about where I grew up and how close everyone in the town was. That was literally what happened. Everyone met on their front porches at dusk to just talk quietly and relax after a hard day's work. Almost every song he sings can invoke a pleasant memory for me, and that is what makes a truly great artist. Someone who can make you feel the music. Not just hear it.
I absolutely loved his show, and I highly recommend going to see him live if you have a chance. If you are searching for pure country music with no gimmicks or tricks, just honest music, then he's your guy. He's great on albums and on the radio, but he's even better live onstage.
