Magnetic Drawer Organizer Design Ideas
- This is an example of what you do not want your drawer to look like on the inside.kitchen drawer image by Christopher Hall from Fotolia.com
A poorly organized drawer is no fun to search through. Magnetic organizers can tame the mess, and make it relatively easy to maintain the organizational system that you have created, even if you aren't naturally the neatest person. Whether you need to organize a drawer full of office supplies or kitchen utensils, many of the same ideas and principles apply. - Do your paper clips or thumb tacks tend to get unruly in your drawer? Place smaller items in clear-lidded spice tins. Then, glue heavy duty square or circular magnets to the interior of your drawer in regular rows and columns, leaving enough space between the magnets to accommodate the tins. Use varying sizes of tins if you desire to hold items of differing sizes.
- If your stored items tend to drift from one compartment to another in a standard plastic or wire drawer organizer, stick lines of adhesive magnets on the underside of the organizer. Metal objects, at least, won't rattle around and end up in other compartments every time you open the drawer.
- While drawers are typically thought of as a method of storing things horizontally, there is no reason why you should be a slave to that. Install drawer-high dividers in your drawer and attach magnets to the sides of the dividers. Affix metal utensils or other objects to the dividers vertically. Alternatively, purchase metal canisters to hold items not made of metal, such as washcloths in a bathroom or silicon utensils in the kitchen.
