Tips on Creating Wedding Invitations

    Cursive Print

    • Sweeping, cursive print is generally considered a more formal lettering type that you can use on your invitations. This style of lettering will tell your guests to expect a formal wedding and not a casual get together.

    Two-toned Invitations

    • A two-toned color scheme will give the invitations more personality and style, and gives you the chance to incorporate your wedding colors into your stationary. You can create a two-toned color scheme by using one color for the body of the invitation and another color for the print, or you can use one color as the body and add an image or design in the other color.

    Ribbon

    • Ribbon is a simple, elegant embellishment you can add to your invitations. A plain, black or white ribbon can be added for extra detail, or a colorful, patterned ribbon can be added to give the stationary flair and personality.

    Monograms

    • Monograms are a common design added to wedding stationary, and they symbolize your upcoming union to your new spouse. An intricately designed monogram of your last or future last initial is a formal addition you can make to your wedding invitations. If you design the monogram yourself, this will also infuse your personality and creativity into your invites.

    Pictures

    • Invitations that include a photo of you and your future spouse have a personal charm that plain, undecorated invitations do not possess. You can have the photograph printed directly onto the invitation, or can cut and paste the photographs on for a more do-it-yourself look.

    Patterned Paper

    • Patterned paper with bright colors and designs is an appropriate stationary choice for a more casual, laid-back wedding. Stationers may have a selection of different patterns and styles for you to choose from, or you can easily make your own using printed papers from a scrapbook supply store.
