Acute neck pain (ANP) means immediate neck pain, the pain that has just started and has affected approx 40% of the population, which has been revealed by some recent studies made. Acute neck pain occurs suddenly in the human body and severely hampers the ability of a person to appropriately move his head in its proper motion. And more depressingly, no form of treatment till now has been revealed to be typically effective for the ANP.

Whiplash is one of the serious types of acute neck pain, which hamper the sudden jarring motion of a person's head going backward and forward, which generally occurs due to a rear end collision. Acute neck pain can also be the consequence of a fall, awkward sleeping position, a trauma etc. Often times when a person has just strained or irritated his neck in some way the pain is most severe, but this usually is inflammation or immobility or muscle tenderness with acute neck pain, in which the muscles or ligaments are involved.

And the moment the muscle starts to relax, the inflammation also decreases and the pain does it all as well. No such studies have been made till date on ANP and so the best helpers till date that are often being used to help a person easily pass this phase of pain are ice and resting. Also the reasons of ANP are not clear because acute pain patients are mostly in chronic stage at the time they are admitted for a clinical study, due to which the studies till date have used a practice-based model to lessen any delay in providing chiropractic care to the patient.

Generally the acute phase of neck pain lasts for about 24hours and after completion of this period, a person can easily start with a routine of specific exercises or stretches or any other muscle work enabling him to get rid of the acute neck pain as if in any case, the acute neck pain is not provided with utmost care, it can turn into a chronic condition for the patient. So it's really important for a person to get rid of his acute neck pain now, before it gets too late to give a thought about.
