    Construction Worker Relay

    • Hold a relay where the kids have a chance to dress like a construction worker and compete for a prize. As each member of the relay team has a chance to compete, he will don accessories such as a hard hat, gloves, safety goggles and a tool belt. Once all of the accessories are all on the child, he will run to the end of the gym. At the end of the gym the child will remove all of the accessories and run back to the team. The next "construction worker" will run back to the end of the gym and put on all of the accessories and run back to take off the outfit. The team who pushes all of its team members through the quickest wins the race.

    Listen to the Foreman

    • Anyone who has ever been to a construction site should know that it can be an obstacle course. Again, take advantage of the space that you have in the gym. Bring in orange construction cones and caution tape. Place them strategically throughout the gym to create an obstacle course. Check with the facilities of the gym you are using to make sure it is okay to bring in large or heavy items. Blindfold the children and choose a construction site "foreman." To get through the obstacles, the kids will have to listen to the directions given by the foreman. Determine a winner by timing each child and giving a prize to the child with the fastest time.

    Building School

    • Give the kids time to build something. Provide them with marshmallows and toothpicks and let them work together or individually to create the tallest tower possible. When allowed to spread out in the gym, many kids can build an impressive display of sugar and small sticks. Give out prizes for things like the tallest tower, the most create tower or most likely to withstand a hurricane.
