    • 1). Complete your move to Texas so that you will have proof of your new residence. Address changes and SSI transfers do not have to be performed before moving; you have 10 days past the month following the move to complete the transfer.

    • 2). Visit the local Social Security Administration office for the town or city in Texas you have moved to. Inform one of the workers in the office that you wish to report a change in address for your SSI benefits, explaining that you have moved from Arizona.

    • 3). Provide details for your new living arrangements, including the address, rent or other housing costs, estimated utilities and whether there is anyone else living with you. If others do live with you, provide an estimate of the portion of household expenses they pay and information on any support you receive from them. This may affect the amount that you receive each month from SSI.

    • 4). Ask where you need to go to report your move to the agency that manages state supplements to SSI for Texas. While the Social Security Administration handles the processing of state supplements for some states, in Texas you are required to report your change in residency directly to the state to ensure that you receive all of the supplementary income that is due to you.
