ISurf School's Watergirl Fund

iSurf School is proud and excited to present its Watergirl Fund. It is a scholarship program providing needs-based scholarships for surf instruction and it aims to introduce surfing to girls, ages 5-15.
The Watergirl Fund was born as the school saw that many girls in the community wanted to surf but they did not have the money to afford lessons.
iSurf School is the only surf school in Santa Barbara and Ventura County where they specialize in teaching women how to surf. It was established in 2013. Their mission is to break down physical, emotional or financial barriers that stop and inhibit females from engaging with the water sport. The school also campaigns for women to stand up and arise in a now male-dominating sport.
Surfing is an empowering and unforgettable experience to everyone who has tried it, and furthermore, it builds confidence, camaraderie and community, which the iSurf School thus promotes.
The school does not only want to teach surfing but they want to get to know each girl, their experience with the ocean and their personal goals for surfing.
At the iSurf School, you are driven to explore and a new realm of interest and fulfillment. They encourage you to develop your own style and whatever your needs and goals are, they do what is necessary to meet them.
And at the first Annual iSurf Block Party of the iSurf School is where the scholarship, Watergirl Fund, will be launched and it is on a Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 5:00 to 9:00 PM. The party is being produced by WA Event Management & Consulting and hosted by The Valley Project and Pali Wine Co at 116 E. Yanonali St. This event will serve as the Watergirl Fund's biggest fundraiser and the goal is to raise $15,000 to provide scholarships to up to 30 girls. Activities will include a silent auction, raffle, music, pig roast, beer and wine. There will be an entrance fee of $30 (if pain in advance) or $40 (if paid upon entry at the door). The fee will cover dinner and 2 drink tickets.
iSurf partners with prominent businesses in the Santa Barbara community to make this a successful event. Donors include Lole Atelier, SeaVees, Horny Toad, Sustainable Vine Wine Tours, The Valley Project, Pali Wine Co, the Canary Hotel, Shelter Social Club, New Belgium Brewing, Three Feathers Design, Hotel Santa Barbary and a whole lot more.
At the Annual iSurf Block Party, you can provide an item or items for our silent auction to support the program. But if you are not able to join the fundraising event, you can still be able to support by sponsoring a scholarship for the year. It is $1,650 a year and you can have the privilege to have the scholarship names after you. You can also donate sponsorship in any amount you choose.
iSurf owner, Alelia Parenteau, is very happy and thankful to the community and the donors for helping and supporting a great cause.
Let us anticipate for more young girls riding the waves!
