How to Install a Granite Tile Bullnose Counter
- 1). Dull the surface of the counter surface with handheld belt sander, so it's clean and flat. Wipe up the dust with a tackcloth.
- 2). Measure the length of the countertop. Find the center and draw a line from front to back there, using a pencil and square.
- 3). Spread thinset mortar over the whole countertop, using your notched trowel.
- 4). Set bullnose granite tiles along the front edge of the counter, positioned with the finished edges facing forward. Start the tiling at the center line and build to the sides, putting spacers between the tiles as you set them, cutting the end tiles as needed with a wet saw.
- 5). Set a course of standard tiles behind the first row of bullnose tiles, again starting at the center. Set spacers between all of them. Repeat and continue, working your way back row by row, putting spacers between all of them and cutting the ends as needed. Do the whole counter. Let the mortar dry overnight and pull out the spacers.
- 6). Apply grout to the countertop, using a grout float to spread unsanded grout over the whole surface, pressing it into the spaces between the tiles. Wipe up the excess grout with a damp sponge.
