Whether you're adding on, building a new home or updating an old foyer, adding a marble entryway onto your home can increase your home's value and its appeal to visitors or potential buyers. You can purchase marble flooring in slabs or tiles, and depending on the marble flooring design you're shooting for, you may even be able to install your marble entryway floors yourself. - If a simple and contemporary design is what you want for your marble entryway floor, try a pattern. You can turn marble tiles of a single color in different directions to create a unique design, or you can mix and cut tiles to construct a mosaic or contemporary pattern, like a grid or checkerboard on your floor. If a whole floor of patterned marble seems a bit much to you, create a border of patterned tile around your entryway, or get creative and switch it up by dividing your entryway into different sections, each with a different design.
- Create a focal point by using a marble medallion design in your entryway or foyer. Medallions feature simple or intricate designs, like compasses or flowers, within a wide circle on your floor. You can create a medallion in any size, but if you're doing your entryway yourself, you might want to stick to something small. Larger marble tile medallion designs often require precision cutting, so that the pieces of the medallion fit together correctly.
- Add a little warmth and welcome to your home's entryway by greeting guests and visitors with a marble rug-style design on the entryway floor. Marble rugs are typically constructed from tile and come in a variety of styles and sizes to fit most any room, although many marble rug designs are reminiscent of Persian rugs. Marble rugs also usually feature a wider range of color than many other marble flooring techniques. It requires a great deal of skill to create the more intricate designs, so they are typically made and purchased from professionals.
