    • 1). See if the batteries in the remote are bad. Take the old batteries out of the remote and then insert new batteries. Test the remote to see if it is working.

    • 2). Disconnect all USB devices from the computer except the mouse, keyboard and the receiver for the remote. Restart the computer and test the remote to see if it is working.

    • 3). Press a button on the remote while pointing it at the receiver. You should see a red light appear on the receiver. If the red light appears the remote control is connecting with the receiver properly but there may be a problem with the software on the computer.

    • 4). Close the Media Center software that is running and then restart the computer. Wait for the operating system to load and then double-click the icon on the desktop to open the software. Test the remote to see if it is now working.

    Test the Remote Control

    • 1). Double-click the icon on the desktop to open the Media Center software.

    • 2). Click "Settings" and then go to the "General" option. Select the "Check Your Remote" option and then click the "Next" button.

    • 3). Press the number keys on the remote. When each number key it pressed it will highlight the number on the screen. You should also see a red light appear on the receiver for the remote.

    • 4). Click the "My control is working properly" option, then click the "Next" button to continue.

    • 5). Click the "Finish" button to go back to the main screen.
